Community Guidelines
Last updated: August 2026
Yala is a neighbourhood bulletin board built on trust. These guidelines apply to every event, group post, question, marketplace listing, provider or business profile, and private message on Yala.
Be respectful
No harassment, bullying, threats, hate speech, racism, or targeting anyone for their religion, background, gender, or disability. Disagree without insulting.
Keep it family-friendly
No sexual, graphic, or violent content. Photos and descriptions should be safe for a family audience.
Be honest
No scams, fake listings, misleading prices, impersonation, or false claims about licences, certifications, or dietary/halal compliance. Post real photos of what you're offering.
Nothing prohibited
Do not post weapons, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, counterfeit goods, recalled items, live animals, adult services, or anything you're not legally allowed to sell.
No spam
Don't repost the same listing over and over, mass-message members, scrape contact details, or promote unrelated businesses inside groups.
Protect privacy
Don't share someone else's phone number, address, photo, or private messages without their permission. Never post children's details.
Reporting and blocking
Every listing, post, question, event, business, and member profile has a report option, and you can block any member so their content and messages disappear from your feeds. Reports go to a moderation queue and are reviewed by our team — typically within 24 hours.
Enforcement
We may hide or delete content, suspend an account temporarily, or permanently remove a member for breaking these guidelines — with no notice where safety is at risk. Objectionable content that is reported is removed or actioned and the poster is ejected when warranted.
